Where did that weekend go? Well, a rather large chunk of mine went on cooking some tasty treats for my family.

I'd been out bargain hunting on Friday evening and got a huge glut of bananas for silly money, which was great.. until I realised I don't have a family of orangutans living with us. So, I had to decide what to make with them. My old favourite - banana bread was the first thing made. I doubled up the quantities and used about 6 bananas (phew, only another 12 to go!) I then made some yummy banana and toffee pancakes which used a few more.

I tried a new recipe over the weekend too - a Moroccan braised beef stew. I had high hopes for this, the spices I used should have resulted in something delicious, I cooked it for around 3 hours, hoping for melt in the mouth meat. It was.... average. I'm pretty sure I know where the problem lies. I was in a bit of a rush, so I bunged all the ingredients in at once, I didn't cook off the spices and brown the meat. Lesson learned! I'll give it another go, this time browning and toasting the spice, if it is better, I'll add the recipe here :)
