Grabit store any recipe in your favourites

Saturday, October 20th, 2012

My Mum used to have a scrapbook crammed full with her recipes, as well as recipes from my gran, relatives & friends and lots of ones she found and tore out of magazines.  Grabit is the modern online version for foodies!

With millions of recipes out there on the internet (I couldn’t find an accurate figure!), MyDish has created a free tool to let people collate their favourite recipes to create their own online recipe cookbook…replicating the traditional habit of tearing out your favourite recipes from a magazine and sticking it in a scrapbook.

  1. Download the Grabit App using Google Chrome

Open up Google Chrome and then go to www.mydish.co.uk/recipe-grabit and click download now.  Once downloaded you will see a little spoon in the top right hand corner of your Google Chrome toolbar.

  1. Find a recipe you want to keep- click the Grabit

Visit any foodie site and when you find recipes you want to keep (instead of thinking where is that fab recipe I saw!) – just click on the Grabit spoon and start saving the recipe straight to your favourites folder.  You can add your own title, description and category.

  1. Recipes stored in your Favourite’s folder

All your favourite recipes will be stored in your favourites folder so that the next time you want to cook it, you get a link straight back to the recipe you found

Find it, Grabit, Book it, Cook it!

Keep your favourite recipes from any website

As many of you know, we asked you lots of questions and held discussion groups specifically to find out what features and functionality you would like added to MyDish.

Now, we are a very small team,so unfortunately we have to do one thing at a time so when we asked a number of members what they wanted next with Mydish they said they wanted to have a Kitchen app and be able to add user generated videos but the most popular request was to be able to keep ALL their favourite recipes in 1 place. Members thought of MyDish like the scrapbook their gran used to keep with torn out recipes from lots of different magazines. We didn’t want people to copy these recipes and put them into MyDish so we have created a way to let people keep all their favourite recipes in their MyDish favourite folder by grabbing the title and photo of the recipe together with a link which sends you out to whichever publication the recipe comes from.

The MyDish Grabit is an app that you download in Chrome. It sits at the top right hand corner of your toolbar and then whenever you are browsing the net and find a recipe you like the look of – all you have to do is click on the Grabit spoon and it stores that recipe, alongside your own and all your favourite recipe from MyDish, in your MyDish favourites folder.

I love it! It is a brilliant tool created by Tony and Sam which is SO useful and really let’s MyDish be your online scrapbook for recipes

Just click here to download the Grabit and keep all your favourite recipes in 1 place!

Make Cooking and Shopping Easy

Friday, May 18th, 2012

I just had to write this as when I talk to people about the functionality on our site they are amazed – but so many people don’t know the full scale of what you can do. (And it’s FREE!)

Last weekend I had some friends over for the first bbq of the season and I decided what I wanted to make – In fact I chose one of our dinner party menus (but selected the dessert from a different menu) and added each of the recipes to my shopping list

I then added the extra stuff from my list that I keep on the fridge and get the kids to write on when anything runs out or if they want something and added these extras at the bottom of the list.  By adding these in – The MyDish shopping list sorted everything into aisles so I wasnt running up and down the store to get all the things on my list.

I spoke to someone who said that she always uses MyDish shopping list to go shopping and just decides what recipes she wants in the week and creates her shopping list and when I spoke to her I thought so many peeople would use it if only they knew about it! – Its free for goodness sake!

You can either print off the list which is what I do so I can mark off everything as I get it, or you can email it to yourself or send it to your mobile!

Have a go, you won’t be disappointed!
