Strangest food ever eaten?

Question: Here in the MyDish office, we've been comparing the weirdest foods we've ever eaten. So far we've got, alligator, chicken brain and snake!

Just so we don't feel terrible about our confession.. we'd really love to hear any odd foods you've eaten over the years.

By the way, it was me that ate the alligator and I can confirm it did taste a bit like chicken. A very tough, chewy chicken with a hint of fish. If you ever see it in the supermarket... don't rush to buy it! Unless you like fishy chicken of course. :)

Carol- I've not tried frogs legs yet, they are definitely something I would try though.

Our garden has been taken over by snails (and slugs) and I keep thinking about making a snail farm and eating them! It'd keep them off my herbs and veg! ;o)

While on holiday in South Africa last year we visited a town called Oudsthoorn in the Little Karoo – about 8 hours drive out of Cape Town. While there we tried their local delicacy, Ostrich Steak. It was delicious with a nutritional value ten times that of chicken - apparently . In fact it tasted a bit like chicken but had the texture of beef steak. Well worth a try if you are down that way. I don’t think you can get Ostrich meat in the UK.
