Method

  • 1) Melt your butter in a pan on medium heat.
  • 2) flour and season the beer and cook in the pan until browned(in batches is you need to).
  • 3) pour the beer and juices into a slow cooker or large pot.
  • 4) to the pot add the veg, spices and beer.
  • 5)if using slow cooker simply turn on and cook for atleast 6) hours, if using a pot and oven, put in the oven at 120 degrees or your lowest oven setting.
  • 7)5 minuets before serving add the jelly and take out the bay leaves.
  • 8) serve with thin oven chips.
  • Tips

    • 1 point, you can cook this for pretty much 24 hours before its over cooked, its good to prep in the morning and forget about for the day, especially with a slow cooker its very safe too leave.
      Also we often double the quantity and freeze it, it reheats very well!

    Ingredients

    • 900g beef chuck steak. cubed.
    • a pinch salt and pepper
    • 3 tbsp plain flour
    • 3tbsp butter
    • 3 Small Onions. thinly Sliced
    • 2 bottles belgian beer (we use stella or jupiler)
    • a sprinkle dried thyme
    • 2 Bay Leaves
    • 1 tbsp red current jelly
    • 2 Carrots peeled and sliced
