1. Soak the lentils overnight.
2. Cook the lentils in as little water as possible till soft. Boil the turnip then mash it.
3. Mix all the ingredients together and forn it into a stiff roll then put it on a tray with a little dripping. Bake it in a moderate oven for 1/2 hour. Baste (moisten the food as it cooks by spooning or brushing it at regular intervals with a liquid such as melted fat, meat drippings, fruit juice, sauce or water) frequently. It should be crisp and brown when cooked.
Served with fried tomatoes round and a border of mashed potatoes. This dish can take the place of meat.
