Method

  • 1. Mix flour and salt in a bowl
  • 2. Cut the fat into smallish lumps
  • 3. Rub the fat in with the four, until it resembles crumbs
  • 4. Using a knife to cut and stir the mixture
  • 5. Add the cold water to form a stiff paste
  • 6. Turn dough on to a floured work top.
  • Ingredients

    • 200g/8oz Self-raising flour
    • 1 pinch Salt
    • 50g/2oz Lard
    • 30ml/2 tbsp Very cold Water
    • 25g/1oz Sugar (if making sweet pastry)
