Spooky Shortbread

Method

  • 1- Set the oven to Gas mark 4.

  • 2 - Sieve the flour into a mixing bowl and stir in the sugar.

  • 3- Add the butter cut into cubes and rub in the flour and sugar until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.

  • 4- Add a tablesponnful of milk to the mixture and mix until it forms a dough.

  • 5- leave in the fridge for 30 minutes or until it firms up.

  • 6 - Roll out the dough and cut with biscuit cutters of choice (Halloween, Christmas etc) then place on a baking tray and cook for 15-20 minutes or until golden.

  • 7- Remove from oven and cool on a rack, when completely cool, you can ice with the icing and decorations of choice. Great fun for children to get involved in. Get ready for mess ,o)

    • 50g/ 2oz Caster Sugar
    • 175g/6oz Plain Flour
    • 3tbs Icing Sugar
    • Handful Smarties
    • 1 tbs Sprinkles
    • 1-3 tbs Milk

    These are so simple, but absolutely delicious! We have some halloween cookie cutters we use to make spooky biscuits. My children then decorate with sprinkles and icing.Lots of fun!
