Method

  • 1. Cream butter and sugar
  • 2. Add whole eggs and yolks - one at a time then add salt, vanilla, flour,baking powder and cornflour.
  • 3.Roll out the dough in long rectangular sections and layer with apricot jam spread smoothly followed by sprinkly softened saltanas and then sprinkle on some cinnamon and sugar
  • 4.Roll the dough 2 or 3 times and then cut into sections off the long sausage looking roll and bake on a baking tray at 375 degrees (gas mark 5) for about 10 minutes or until golden brown

I believe that ours was slightly different,but shall try this just to see what the difference (if any!") is! I believe my Great-Grandmother used to make these and handed the recipe down! How about the Butter cakes...do u make them too???
