Method

  • 1. Heat and grease a heavy frying pan.

  • 2. Sift together the bicarb, flour and cream of tartar together.

  • 3. Now rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

  • 4. Stir in the egg and enough milk until the mixture reaches a thick creamy texture.

  • 5. Drop a spoonfuls of mixture, allowing space for expansion into the frying pan.

  • 6. Allow to cook for 2 to 3 mins until bubbles appear in the surface of the drop scones.

  • 7. Now flip them over and cook on the other side for about the same length of time.

  • 8. Serve warm with butter and or honey.

    • Wont they be burnt if the cooking time is 8 hours, as stated under the ingredients list? ;-)Seriously, they look lovely and I will be trying them today!
