Apple Crumble

Method

  • Heat oven at 180C.

  • Peel, core and slice the apples. Put into a 1.1 litre (2 pint) ovenproof dish, sprinkle over the granulated sugar.

  • Sift flour into a bowl. Rub butter into flour until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar.
  • Sprinkle crumble thickly over fruit.

  • Bake at 190C for 15 minutes. Reduce to 180C for a further 45 minutes until top is lightly brown.

    • 450g 1lb Cooking Apples
    • 75g 3 oz Granulated Sugar
    • 175g 6oz Plain Flour
    • 75g 3oz Butter
    • 50g 2oz Caster Sugar`
