Method

  • 1. Heat the oven to 150 degrees celsius.
  • 2. Chop the onions into small peices.
  • 3. Add the oil to a pan then add the onion.
  • 4. Once the onion is soft, add the minced beef to the pan, cook until browned.
  • 5. Meanwhile boil a pint of water in the kettle and add 5 heaped desert spoons of gravy granuals into a jug.
  • 6. Pour a pint of boiling water over the gravy granuals, mix until smooth.
  • 7. Add the worcester sauce, salt and pepper stiring them into the meat.
  • 8. Pour the gravy into the pan containing the meat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • 9. Put the suet, plain flour and a pinch of salt to a bowl and mix.
  • 10.Measure 5 table spoons of water pouring into the bowl, knead into a stiff dough.
  • 11.Divide the dough into 8 balls.
  • 12.Remove the mince from the heat and place into an oven proof dish.
  • 13.Place the 8 balls of dough in the mince so they are half covered.
  • 14.Cook in the oven for 40 minutes or until the dumplings are crispy and brown on the top but soft in the middle.

    • 2 medium Onion
    • pinch Salt
    • pinch Pepper
    • 1 desert spoon Worcester Sauce
    • 1 table spoon Oil
    • 50g Suet
    • 100g Self Raising Flour
    • 5 table spoons Water
    • 500g Lean minced beef
    • 1 pint Boiling water
    • 5 heaped desert spoons Gravy granules

    I like this recipe as it is a North East of England favourite! It's a tasty meal even more so in the winter, enjoy.
