could you not just use self raising flour? then it would'nt mater about the amount of baking powder. just a thought

I assume by 'flour' you mean plain flour, and by 'baking soda' you mean baking powder.Also, you have not included the quantity of baking soda/powder in your ingredients. Could you please let me know this so that I can make this recipe. Many thanks.
