Method

  • Place all ingredients in a saucepan(not flour and eggs) and bring to the boil, simmer for about 15 mins. Put aside to cool. then add flour and beaten eggs, and cook in a slow oven for 1 1/2 hours. Oven 325 or 170, Gas3 . Greased 2lb loaf tin

    • 2 cups self raising flour
    • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
    • 1 teasp mixed spice
    • 4oz Butter
