Method

  • Combine the above ingredients in a pot. Heat slowly to the boiling point over a low heat. Let simmer for 10 minutes so the cider absorbs the spicy flavours. Serve in small mugs or tea-glasses.

    • All cider in the UK is made with apples unless it states otherwise. Pear cider (perry) is gaining in popularity these days but will always say pear on the label. Kopperberg brand do some interesting ciders with an apple base and other fruits such as winter berries which would work really well with this recipe

    Ingredients

    • 1 litre apple cider or organic apple juice
    • 300ml water
    • 1 stick cinnamon approx. 2.5 cm long
    • 3  cloves
    • 2 slices fresh ginger 3 cm long
