Bacon and Onion Roly Poly Easy Peasy Style

Suet pastry with bacon and onion centre

Method

Mix together, flour, suet, salt and water to form a dough.

Roll out dough into a large rectangle

Cover the rolled out dough in a layer of onion and bacon.

From the narrow end roll up into a sausage

Place on a greased and floured baking tray in the centre of a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 40 mins to 1 hour untill golden brown.

Ingredients

Pinch Of Salt To Taste
Veggie Suet Or Beef Suet 125g
Self Raising Flour 225g
Smoked Streaky Bacon Cut Unto Lardons 1-2 Packs
Onion Chopped 1 Large
Water 120 Ml

Hints 'n' Tips

Leave to stand for 5 mins before cutting.

You could put anything you want in this alongside the bacon. Ive done it with Chorizo before. Tasty! Try your own variation!!

The Baron de Ley winery was founded by a prestigious group of Rioja professionals in 1985. They were quite unique in their approach as they modelled the winery on a Medoc chateaux, which was a pioneering move at that time for producers in the Denominacion de Origen Calificada Rioja. This wine is aged in new oak casks for 20 months prior to resting in the bottle for 2 years before release. It has definite claret qualities; the nose is layered with ripe cherry, toasty oak and a touch of cigar box.
