Method

  • 1. Cut the beef diagonally across the pattern then slice into bite size bits.
  • 2. Put the pieces into a bowl with the marinade ingredients. Marinade for 30 mins- overnight.
  • 3. Wash the rice in a sieve under the tap. Add it to a pan with the water in and bring it to the boil. Then cover it and simmer it on a low heat for 1o mins or until the water is absorbed. Remove it from the heat then let it stand.
  • 4. Meanwhile mix the sauce ingredients together.
  • 5. Heat a deep frying pan (or a wok, if you have one). Add the sunflower and sesame oil. Then put half the beef in and stir fry for 1-2 mins until just browned. Remove it and keep it warm while you repeat with the other half of the beef. Remove the rest of the beef.
  • 6. Stir fry the spring onions and carrots for 1 min. Put the the beef back in to reheat and add the sauce. Stir well.
  • 7. Drain the rice and put the rice and stir fry into bowls.
