Method

  • Place the flour in a large mixing bowl sprinkle in the baking powder then add the butter ( cut up) and rub it into the flour lightly using your finger tips. Then when it all looks crumbly and the fat has all been dispersed evenly add the sugar and combine that wellwith the rest.Now sprinkle the crumble mixture over the fruit in a pie dish spreading it out with a fork. Place the crumble on a high shelf in the oven and bake for 30-40 mins or until the top is tinged with brown. 350F 180C.

  • Spiced apple and raisin.
  • 2lbs bramley apples, 1 oz soft brown sugar, 1 level teaspoon cinnamon, 3ozs raisins 2 tablespoons water. Slice apples and add raisins and spices, cook gently with sugar and the water until soft and fluffy, put in pie dish and cover with crumble.

    • 3 oz Butter
    • 1 level teaspoon baking powder
