Golden Syrup Cake For Rosh Hashanah

Method

  • Put everything into your magimix and blend for 3-4 minutes.

  • Pour into a greased round baking tin.

  • Sprinkle the flaked almonds on top

  • Bake for 1hour 15 minutes at 160 degrees in the centre of the oven making sure the top doesn't brown too much.

  • Check it is ready by inserting a cocktail stick in the middle. When it comes out clen it is ready to come out of the oven.

  • Allow to cool and turn out.

  • This delicious cake gets better with age.

  • Ingredients

    • 18 tablespoons Self Raising Flour
    • 1 teacup Boiling Water
    • 1 teacup White Sugar
    • 1 teacup Vegetable Oil (not olive oil)
    • 3 Large Eggs
    • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
    • 2 teaspoons Ground Mixed Spice
    • 1 teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda
    • 1 small tin Tate and Lyle Golden Syrup
    • 1 handful Flaked Almonds (optional)
