Place the coffee and sugar in a measuring jug and add 3 tbsps boiling water. Stir until dissolved. Add the brandy orrum and top up with cold water to make 250ml of liquid.
Place half the sponges in a shallow serving dish. Slowly pour over half the coffee liquid. Place the mascarpone, cream and custard in a medium sized bowl and whip until soft, smooth and creamy. Spread half the mixture over the soaked sponges and sprinkle with half the chocolate.
Top with remaining sponges and slowly drizzle with the reserved coffee mixture until the sponges are fully soaked.
Spread over the remaining mascarpone mixture and decorate with the remaining chocolate and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
I used the "Coffee Mixture" part of this recipe for use with "Grandma's Tiramisu" (recipe 2372) and the results were stupendous. Totally scrummy and very moreish!

I've made this today and it is absolutely delicious. Very quick and easy I just used real coffee instead of instant.
