2. Make toffee sauce by pouring the heated butter or margarine, soft brown sugar and golden syrup in a saucepan. Melt completely and boil for 3 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the heat and stir in the cream.
3. Put all the other ingredients apart from the apples in a food processor and pulse until they resemble breadcrumbs.
4. Cover the bottom of 8 ramekin dishes or a large ovenproof dish with the prepared apples.
5. Pour the toffee sauce over the sliced apples and mix thoroughly. Cover with the crumble mixture. Bake for 30 minutes.
DELICIOUS! I made this without the cinnamon but I loved it.I did stew the apples first though and also I just combined the ingredients for the crumble by hand.
This recipe was so good, the toffee is perfect, and tastes amazing with the cinnamon and apples. My only complaint would be that the ingredients list and recipe details aren't very clear....ie. which quantity of butter do you use in the toffee sauce and which in the crumble topping?! This may be obvious to some, and I did end up guessing but for new cooks like me it was confusing!
