Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients
- 1 vanilla pod
- 350 ml single cream
- 5 egg yolks. beaten
- 350 ml double cream
- 1 tbsp. vanilla sugar
- to serve chocolate sauce
Method
- 1. Get the seeds out from the pod by cutting it half.
2. Boil the single cream with the seeds, than leave for 10 mins.
3. Pour the mixture on to the egg yolks, whisk well to blend then return to the pan.
4. Whisk over low heat until the mixture thickens. Add the vanilla sugar and leave to cool.
5. Whisk the double cream than, fold in the vanilla mixture, mixing thoroughly.
6. Pour into a shallow freezer-proof container, cover the surface with cling film and freeze.
