Method

  • This is for a large tray bake and will serve 20 good sized portions!!

  • 1. Mix the butter and flour by rubbing together with your fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs, then add the sugar and mix togther.

  • 2. Grease a large tray and add the apples-I use pre cooked apples(catering supplys!) which are tinned and they still taste good-no need to add sugar to this type but feel free if using another kind

  • 3. Tip the apples into the tray and make sure its an even covering. Add the crumble mix onto this- not forgetting the corners!!!

  • 4. Bake at 180oC for approx 1 hour until golden and bubbling!

  • 5. Cut into even sized pieces and serve with custard
  • Ingredients

    • 12 oz plain sugar
    • 6 oz granulated sugar
    • 6 oz butter
    • 1 kg apple
    • 1 carton custard
