Method

  • Cut the crusts off unsliced bread that's past its prime and freeze. Do this for a couple of weeks.

  • When you've collected a medium sized bag full, defrost and blitz in the the coffee grinder attachment of a blemder.

  • Re-freeze in a plastic storage box and use as required.
  • Tips

    • Don't blitz for too long or you'll end up with powder.

      Great for binding burgers, meatballs, etc and mixing with grated cheese to make a savory topping.

      You can also slice up the inside of the bread, freeze it, and use it later in a bread and butter pudding.

    Avoid wasting some of that stale loaf at least! Much healthier, I feel, than the pre-fab breadcrumbs you buy in a box which are clearly dyed with goodness knows what.
