1. Preheat the oven to GM g/ 200 degrees celsius/ 392 degrees fahrenheit.
2. Place the butter, cut into chunks, in a mini-chopper, then add the flour and whiz the two together to the fine crumb stage.
3. Empty this mixture into a bowl. After that, add the almonds to the mini-chopper and pulse-chop until they are roughly chopped (it's not important to chop then small), then add these to the bowl as well. Stir in the sugar and cinnamon and that's it.
4. PLace your apples in a round dish 16cm in diameter, or similar, sprinkle over or stir in the demerara sugar. Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top and press down quite firmly, then bake on the centre shelf of the oven for 40-45 minutes (42 and a half is good, but thats just me being picky) or till well-browned and crisp on top.
