Method

  • 1. Chop the cabbage and onion (amount dependent on taste), & grate the carrot and add to one medium dish.

  • 2. Add sugar, pepper & salt, chives & salad cream (amount depending on desired consistency)

  • 3. Stir, and taste!
  • Tips

    • This is a really simple recipe and brilliant for BBQs and to accompany salads, lunches etc. You can really add anything else you like - for example, peppers or apple & raisins.
I also find the coleslaw at it's best a day after it has been made (and refrigerated) as the juices have run and added to the sauce.
If it is likely to be served on a hot day I also add a bit of lemon juice to help preserve colour and flavour.

    Ingredients

    • 1 large carrot. peeled and grated
    • 0.5 small white cabbage. finely sliced
    • 0.5 - 1 small red onion finely chopped
    • 1 tsp granulated sugar
    • 150-300ml salad cream
    •  salt and freshly ground black pepper
    •  chives - freshly chopped
