Preheat oven to 1900C
Lightly butter two baking sheets and set aside.
1.In a large bowl, cream the butter until soft.
2.Gradually beat in the sugar and brown sugar.
3.Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract.
4.Add the flour and baking soda to the mixture and stir until smooth.
5.Stir in the nuts and chocolate bits, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
6.Drop scant teaspoons 2 inches apart onto the baking sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are beginning to brown.
7.Transfer to racks and cool. (makes approx 48 cookies)
