Method

  • Place the slice of bread under a moderately pre-heated grill. Grill until golden on top then flip over and cover the bread in cheese. You can use Cheddar or Cheshire cheese. Grill until melted.

  • You can also add some slices of tomato during the melting of the cheese.

    • Firstly the Welsh National Dish is more commonly considered to be Cawl. Secondly Caws Pobi (or rarebit, as the English call it) is a fair bit more than "enough cheese to cover the toast"

    • I think Welsh Rarebit's the welsh dish, you need to add mustard, beer, egg, seasoning, chives etc to the cheese making a wet mixture which you spread on the cheese. Beer from the night before works well enough and makes the dish really special, perfect afternoon hang-over cure! xXx
