Blackberry Vodka

Method

  • Wash the blackberries and put them into a one litre screw top bottle. Add the sugar, cloves or star anise and the broken cinnamon stick.

  • Top up with 75 cl vodka and screw the lid on.

  • Shake vigorously today and every day for approx two weeks to ensure the sugar is dissolved.

  • Then put the bottle away somewhere dark and forget about it for a couple of months or so.

  • Strain off the fruit, put the liqueur into a nice decanter - or at least a cleaner bottle. I eat the blackberries on ice cream, and drink the vodka as a very lethal liqueur.

  • Please drink responsibily!

    • I make Sloe Vodka but this sounds wonderful! Have already put on calendar to remind me to make in the Autumn.

This is a lovely one for Christmas, and so so simple. Be aware though that it is very alcoholic and should be treated like any other alcoholic drink.
