Method

  • Line a swiss roll tin with the pastry and spread with the jam.
  • Cream together the margarine and sugar, add the rolled oats, almond essence and the egg, mix and spread over the jam.
  • Bake in a pre heated oven 180c for 20 - 30 mins.
  • Cut into slices.
  • Tips

    • I suppose you could add a few flaked almonds to the top of this recipe but I don't.

    •  shortcrust pastry
    •  red jam
    • 3oz margarine
    • 3oz sugar
    • 3 - 4oz Rolled Oats
    • few drops almond essence
    • 1 egg
