Method

  • Make bread crumbs from the margarine and flour, pour a cup of boiling water over the dates and add the bicarbonates of soda.

  • Mix all the ingredients together and pour into baking tins. Cook on a medium/low heat for 35 mins

    • 10oz Flour (self raising)
    • 8oz sugar
    • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 2oz walnuts chopped
    • 1 tsp Vanilla essence
    • 3oz margarine or butter
    • pinch salt
    • 8oz Dates. chopped
    • TOFFEE SAUCE
    • 2 oz approx butter or margarine
    • 4 oz approx muscovado sugar
    • 150ml approx Cream
