Method

  • for beef:
  • using a large pan for the stew, add some oil and heat. add beef braising steak and brown for about 5-7 mins.

  • preparing veg:
  • chop up all the vegetables roughly (add as many veg to the stew to your taste)
  • add water to the browned beef, fill the pan leaving about 3" from edge, and add roughly 4 table spoons of the gravy granules.
  • replace pan back on cooker to heat and mix gravy granules. when mixed thouroughly ensuring no lumps add rosmary and thyme, salt and pepper. add all off your veg and leave them to heat for 10 mins. when time is up add more gravy granules two spoons at a time until you have the density to your taste. leave stew to simmer for 1.5-2 hours. veg should be soft and beef tender.
  • serve with fresh crusty bread and butter.
  • Tips

    • the beuty of this recipe is that you can make it to your taste by adding as much veg and different sorts to it, like adding mushrooms or maybe peas if you like. you can also make the gravy as thick and rich as you like, try adding a few spoons of red cooking wine to the gravy before the veg to make a rich dish. the stew always tastes better the following day after having time ti "stew" prepare it on an evening and have it for you dinner the next.
