Rich Tea Biscuits

Method

  • 1. Preheat oven to 220°C.

  • 2. Mix the flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt together in a bowl.

  • 3. Cut the shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs and then stir in the milk just until mixture forms a soft dough.

  • 4. On lightly floured surface knead the dough and then roll the dough until 3/4 inch thick.

  • 5. With floured round cookie cutter (3 1/2"), cut out as many biscuits as possible.

  • 6. Place biscuits, about 1/2 inch apart, on oiled baking tray.

  • 7. Brush biscuits with beaten egg. Bake for about 15 minutes until golden.

    • 1tbs Baking powder
    • 1tsp Salt
    • 1/3 cup Shortening
    • 2/3 cup milk
    • 1 Egg. beaten
