Method
1. Pre-heat oven to 190°C: 375°F: Gas 5.
2. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
Rub in butter until mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
3. Add the egg, with enough water so the dough has a pastry consistency.
4. Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface into 1/4 inch thickness, cut into rounds.
5. Place on an un-greased baking tray.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
6. Allow to cool for a few minutes then remove to wire racks.
Great with a cuppa or try spreading with cream cheese or jam.

- 400g Whole wheat flour
- 110g Dark brown sugar
- 110g Butter
- 60ml Hot water
- 1 Egg. beaten
- 1tsp Baking powder
- 1tsp Cream of tartar
