Pre heat oven to gas mark 4 (180°C/350°F)
Melt the butter and chocolate (over pan of simmering water (bain marie)) and then mix until smooth.
Add nuts (cherries optional).
In separate bowl mix together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and sugar and then add this to choc and nut mix.
Stir well together and then add in beaten eggs until silky consistency.
Pour brownie mix into a greased (or line with greaseproof paper) large baking tray (24 inches or 2x12").
Cook for about 25 mins.
You don't want to over cook them so they are gooey in the middle.
Allow tray to cool, then transfer to chopping board and cut into squares.
Great with a cup of tea or as a dessert with red berries and ice cream.
