Method

  • 1. Pre-heat oven to 180°C
  • 2. Take the pastry from the fridge about half an hour before you want to use it so slightly softer and easier to roll
  • 3. Take a jar of mincemeat and add a few table spoons of brandy.
  • 4. Sprinkle flour on a work surface and roll out the pastry.
  • 5. Grease the tray and use relevant pastry cutter.
  • 6. Line the tray with the pastry rounds and add mincemeat.
  • 7. Dampen the ends of the rounds of pastry with water and press them slightly to form lids.
  • 8. Brush each one with milk.
  • 9. Bake at the top of he oven for about 20-25 mins until they are light golden brown.
  • 10. Then cool and sprinkle with sifted icing sugar.
  • 11. Store in a airtight container and warm slightly before eating.
  • 12. Serve with cream, brandy sauce/butter or my favourite posh Vanilla Ice Cream.

  • TIP: Can use either short crust or puff pastry.
