Method

  • Put 5 cups of flour in a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the center. Add remaining ingredients to the well of the flour. Continue until you make a stiff dough,adding more flour if needed. On a floured surface, roll out to about 1/8 inch thickness;cut out and bake on lightly greased baking sheets at 350 degrees, until brown around the edges. makes 6 to 7 dozen tea cakes.

    • 4 eggs
    • 2 cups sugar
    • 1 cup Butter
    • 1 cup thick buttermilk
    • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
