Method

  • 1. Preheat oven to gas mark 4/180ËšC (170ËšC in a gas oven). Put bread on a baking sheet and toast till medium-dark.

  • 2. In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add anchovies, stirring and crushing with a wooden spoon or spatula for 3-4 mins.

  • 3. Remove pan from heat. Spoon anchovies onto breads and top each with a slice of cheese. Bake till cheese melts and browns, about 5-8 mins. Top with a sprig of lemon thyme.
  • Ingredients

    • 4 Baguette. thinly sliced
    • 4 tbsp. Unsalted butter
    • 8 Anchovy fillets. drained and chopped (if using salted. rinse and dry on paper towel)
    • 500g Provolone cheese. sliced
