Sausages Braised with Guinness & Onions

Method

  • 1. Heat the oven to 180oC gas 4.
  • 2. Brown the sausages with a little olive oil in an ovenproof dish. Throw in the onions, cook until soft then add the bacon and garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
  • 3. Stir in the flour, pour in the Guinness and let it bubble then add the thyme. Cover and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Tips

    • Serve with loads of creamy mash and peas. Oven roasted root veg is good with this too. Just make sure you use the best quality sausages you can afford, it does make a difference.

    • 8 fat large pork sausages
    •  olive oil
    • 2 onions. sliced
    • 4-6 rashers streaky bacon. chopped
    • 1 clove garlic. crushed
    • 2 tsp plain flour
    • 330ml can Guinness
    • 2 sprigs thyme
