Gnocchi with Homemade Spicy Tomato Sauce

Tips
- Add diced, fried chicken pieces to the gnocchi if you feel the need for some protein.
Parmesan Reggiano can be used if you can't get Pecorino.
Add more chillis or crushed red peppers if you like a hot arrabiatta sauce.
A teaspoon of smoked paprika fried with the onion, garlic and chilli adds a tasty twist to the sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pack of gnocchi
- 5 large on-the-vine tomatoes. remove skins and chop
- Large handful of basil leaves. torn into strips
- 1 onion. finely chopped
- 1 medium chilli. finely chopped
- 4 garlic cloves. finely chopped
- 1 small glass of red wine
- Salt & Pepper to season
- Pecorino Romano. freshly grated
- Serve with oven-baked garlic bread
