Easy Christmas Chestnut Stuffing

Tips
- I don't stuff the turkey as I'm always concerned the bird will not cook thoroughly. I put an onion and a quartered lemon into the cavity to maintain a moist but fragrant inside to the bird. Plus I like the stuffing baked and crispy on the outside and nice and succulent underneath.
Ingredients
- 450g fresh. cooked & peeled or vac packed chestnuts
- 1 lge onion. finely chopped
- 110g smoked streaky bacon. finely chopped
- the liver from the turkey. chopped finely
- 25g butter
- 225g good quality pork sausagemeat
- 4 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1 dessertspoon chopped thyme
- ΒΌ tsp ground mace
- seasoning
