The Basics

  • Dish: Baking
  • cuisine: America
  • Serves: 6
  • Prep Time: 0hrs 35 mins
  • Cooking Time: 0hrs 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups hot water
  • 2 TABLESPOONS olive oil
  • 2 Teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups white flour (bleached or unbleached)
  • 2 TABLESPOONS sugar
  • 2 Teaspoons Active quick-rising yeast
  • 2 Teaspoons ground or whole Flax Seed

Method

Add the first six ingreadients in order to the Bread Machine bucket. Be exact with your measurements.

With your finger, poke a little well in the center of your mound of flour. Add the yeast into it (it's OK if some spills out).

Put the mix into your Bread Machine and bake.

HINT: I do not bake bread in my Bread Machine, because I prefer long, thin loaves. I set this recipe on "Dough" setting. When the Bread Machine has finished making the dough, I lightly knead the dough into a long, thin loaf. (If your dough is sticky, add a little flour while you need. If it's dry, add a little water).

I place my loaf on a greased cookie sheet and cover with a cloth. I let it sit for about 1/2 hour, and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. It is so light and fluffy!

Plate

I make bread most days Mrs M and thought I'd give this a go.
Yum! It was a lovely change from my usual wholemeal with fig and fennel seed.
