Quick Wholemeal Bread

The Basics

  • Cooking Time: 0hrs 50 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • ¾ cup cold water
  • 3½ teaspoons yeast granules
  • 250 gms wholemeal flour
  • 200 gms strong white flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Method

Dissolve honey in boiling water.
Add cold water and sprinkle on top.
Let sit, covered, for 15 - 20 minutes until frothy.
Stir to combine then add flours and salt.
Place in a loaf tin lined with baking or silicone paper.
Put into 80 degree C oven for 20 minutes.
Without removing tin, turn oven to 200 degreesC
and bake for further 30 minutes.

Variations: Add seeds or dried fruit.
One delicious combo is four chopped dried figs and 2 teaspoons fennel seeds.
You can top loaf with pumpkin seeds.

NB: THIS IS A RATHER MOIST BREAD MIX.
