Orange Biscuits

Method

  • 1. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl.
  • 2. Put the butter and sugar into another bowl and beat them until they are creamy.
  • 3. Stir in the beaten egg and vanilla.
  • 4. Stir in the zest into the creamy mixture.
  • 5. Add the flour mixture an stir/mix until you getdough.
  • 6. Put a long piece of foil on wok surface.
  • 7. Roll the dough to make a long sausage shape.
  • 8. Wrap the roil around the dough and put in the fridge for an hour, or until firm.
  • 9. Take the dough out and cut into very thin slices. You don't need to use all go - it'll stay in the fridge for up to 10 days, or in a freezer for six weeks.
  • 10. Spread the slices on a baking sheet and cook for seven or eight minutes until they are golden in 200C, 400F or Gas Mark 6.
  • 11. Leave the biscuits on the sheet for one minute them put on a wire rack to cool.

    • Gorgeous biscuits!! Dead easy to make but had a small problem cooking as there was no oven temp in the recipe! I cooked them on 180 and they took a lot longer to cook, however they are well worth the wait the only trouble is they will not make it to the biscuit tin!!! Thankyou!!

    • 200g plain flour

    • 2 tsp baking powder
    • 1 lge eggs. beaten
    • 200g castor sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla essence/other flavouring
    • 2 Orange Rind. Grated

    This is a really easy one to bake with the children - and you don't have to use all at once. You can keep producing fresh biscuits all week.
