The Basics

  • Dish: Side Dishes
  • cuisine: English
  • Serves: 4
  • Prep Time: 0hrs 15 mins
  • Cooking Time: 0hrs 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 onions
  • 300ml double cream
  • good handful grated parmasan cheese
  •  salt and pepper

Method

heat the oven at 180˚c Gas 4. Peel the onions and bring them to the boil in a deep pan of water. Leave them at a bright simmer for about 25 minutes, until tender. Lift them out with a draining spoon.
Slice the onions in half from root to tip and put them cut side down in an ovenproof dish. Tip the cream over the onions. Season with salt, pepper and grated cheese and bake for 25-30 minutes till golden and bubbling.
Great as a veggy dish on its own or served as a side dish with roast beef or chicken.

This is very similar to a French recipe I have made. I'll be adding this to my favourites too, HiFi.
