Apple Crumble Pie

Method

  • Make the pastry case and prick the base well with a fork, pack the sliced apples evenly into the case.
  • Mix half the sugar with the ground cloves and sprinkle over the apples.
  • Mix the remaining sugar with the flour and then rub in the butter until the mixture is crumbly sprinkle the crumble mix evenly over the apple.
  • Bake in the centre of a moderately hot oven 200°C / 400°F / Gas 6. for between 40 to 45 minutes until the apples are tender (test the apples with a skewer) and the crumble is crisp and a golden brown.
  • Serve hot with cream or custard and Enjoy!

    • YOU WILL NEED
    • 1 recipe quantity of shortcrust pastry. enough for a 9 inch pie
    • ½ kilo apples. tart maybe Bramley’s. sliced
    • 200 grams caster sugar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 75 grams plain flour
    • 75 grams butter
