everything into a large bowl, use an electric hand whisk or machine to combine all the ingredients, brease and line a 20cm cake tin, pour in the batter and cook in middle of the oven for 30 mins, check to see if it is cooked before taking out of the oven, if not, leave another 5 mins and so on!
NOTES-- if your cooking the plain vanilla sponge then leave out the cocoa powder, if your doing the chocolate one then leave out the vanilla extract.
this cake is fool proof never comes out dry , always soft and fluffy. make 2 and sandwich togethor with jam and cream.
