put the dates, water ,milk,sugar and margerine into a pan and bring to the boil,then simmer for 5 mins, sift the flour,spices,bicarb and salt, put walnuts into the flour mixture, pour the warm date mix into the flour mix and mix for a few minutes to make sure there are no flour pockets or air pockets, pour into a large loaf tin that has been lined, bake for 1 hour, leave to settle in the loaf tin for ten mins whilst cooling before removing.
