Method

  • Place the diced onion, carrots and ham into a pan with the cupful of split peas.

  • Cover with water and bring to the boil and allow to simmer for about 45 mins.

  • Add the lentils to thicken it up and simmer for a further 30 mins.

  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Tips

    • Serve with a nice freshly cooked Vienna Sausage

    • 1 Onions (medium)
    • 2 Medium Carrots
    •  leftover cooked ham/gammon
    • 1 tablespoon lentils
    • 1 cupful yellow split peas
    • to taste salt and pepper
