Fish Pie with Creamy Mash

Method

  • Steam the fish in a steam until cooked. Remove skin and bones. Set a side. For the sauce: melt the butter in a sauce pan, stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes on medium heat. Gradually add the milk whisking to form a smooth paste. Keep adding the milk until a smooth white sauce forms. Season and add cheese. Keep stiring until melted and smooth consistency. Add wine and taste to see how much is required. Add the fish, prawns and mix well.

  • Prepare mashed potato. Once potatos are cooked, mash until smooth with no lumps. Season, add butter and some milk. Mash into potatos. Put the fish mixture into an oven proof dish and add mash potato. roughly chop fresh dill and sprinkle of mash. Bake for 25 minutes on 180 degrees.
  • Ingredients

    • 2-3 fillets of Cod or White Fish Fillets such As Pollack. Cod or Coleyt
    • 1 oz butter
    • 1 tbsp of plain flour
    • 500 mls of milk
    • 1 oz mature cheddar. grated
    • a measure of white wine (add & taste)
    • pack of Tiger prawns
    • pinch of Salt and pepper
    • 6-8 Potatoes for mashing
    • extra 1 oz of butter for mash
    • fresh dill finely chopped
