The Basics

Ingredients

  • 250g soft margarine
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons peanut butter (crunchy or smooth)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 300g chocolate chips
  • 1 oz baking powder
  • 2 cups oats
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 and ½ cups Plain flour

Method

Beat the eggs, marg, salt, sugar, peanut butter and vanilla essence well (best done with an electric handbeater)Beat above ingredients well.

Preheat oven to 150ºC 300ºF Gas 2

Add the rest of the ingredients

Blend well. If the mixture is too wet just add a few more oats and flour. It should be soft dropping consistency. Place well spaced dessertspoonfuls on baking trays lined with parchment (Bakewell paper) – the mixture will spread. Bake for approximately 15 minutes. Watch carefully as they can cook very quickly depending on your oven.
